Job Description
  • Newly created role supporting our pipeline and workflow management processes
  • Strong collaboration and engagement across the organisation
  • Permanent opportunity, located in Wellington
Here at Inland Revenue (IR) we are well advanced into a multi-year business transformation which will modernise our entire operation. As a customer-centric and intelligence-led organisation, IR’s goal is to give customers the best possible experience when using the NZ tax system. This is resulting in significant changes to how we seek insights, operate and engage with customers, and the way that our people undertake their work.
About the role
IR’s Information & Intelligence Services (IIS) group develops intelligence and insights, partnering across IR to deliver customer-centric strategies which improve outcomes for our customers, bettering the lives of everyday NZ’ers.

As a Workflow Business Analyst within IIS, you will play a key role supporting our pipeline and workflow management processes. This is a newly created role in the team, and you will be pivotal in supporting the delivery of relevant and consumable intelligence products into the organisation.  Your analysis and understanding of priorities and broader impact enables a smooth flow between IIS and the desired business outcome and solution delivery.
What you’ll bring to the role
  • A depth of experience in analysis; you know how to explore and challenge thinking to understand what is actually needed.  Your documentation is succinct and articulates messages clearly.
  • A love of data and intelligence.
  • Experience with workflow tools, ideally JIRA.  This is a relatively new tool for the group, and you will bring structure and pragmatic best practice.
  • Exposure to Agile methodology; we’ll be looking to your experience turning information into user stories that resonate.
  • An eye for continuous improvement.
  • The ability to take in complex information, ask the right questions to understand key issues and patterns, knowing the best approach to sharing your findings with your audience.
  • Your wealth of experience brings insight and perspective; your curiosity asks how we can explore the options and tactics to get the desired outcome.
  • Good will and good humour; you’ll be collaborating alongside a broad range of people here, from the highly technical data specialists, senior management, and customer segment SME’s. You’ll bring warmth and enthusiasm to the role.
It’s important to us that you feel comfortable in bringing your whole self to work; the team here are diverse and we love it.
